Money Making Website Ideas: Making Money With Website Marketing

A profitable internet business starts with money making website ideas. With that said, a list of profitable website ideas is not the only factor to consider when your business model is based on making money with website marketing. You also need to give plenty of weight to your personal interests and the topics you are knowledgeable in. Your internet business should be enjoyable for you to manage. Performing research and writing content for your website should not be a chore, instead the work you put into your internet business should be something you look forward to on a daily basis. Therefore it makes sense to come up with money making website ideas that suit your interests and
knowledge-base. Take your interests and turn them into your online business.

You only need three tools to complete the task of listing your money making website ideas and then choosing one of the profitable website ideas as the concept of your online business. The three tools you need are a pen, a notepad, and Google. I will also show you another method that replaces Google while providing similar results.

Making money with a website largely depends on the topic that you choose to build your business around. You don't want to choose a topic that is too general and grossly competitive. You want to grab a niche topic and become one of the experts in the field. Keep in the back of your mind that your website will eventually grow to 250 to 300 pages. So let's look at a couple quick examples that will help you understand the kind of money making website ideas you need to come up with:

Example #1 - Let's say you want to build a profitable website related to travel. You're not going to be able to cover the entire world, or an entire continent, or an entire country for that matter. A better bet would be to focus on a single island, a single city, or a section of a state or province. You can cover places to stay, places to eat, things to do, and so on. Once you have one money making travel website running then you can choose another island, city, or state and begin building a second profitable travel website.

Example #2 - Let's say you want to build a money making website about dogs. You're not going to be able to cover all the breeds of dogs in one website. Instead you should choose one dog breed and create web pages about how to care for the dogs, what to feed them, how to train them, and so on. Once you have one profitable dog website running then you can choose another breed and begin building a second money making dog website.

So you need to come up with a list of potential money making website ideas. Get out your pen and notepad and list all your areas of interest. Then make a list of other topics that you are knowledgeable in and would enjoy researching and writing about. Try to be as specific as possible. Take your time and make sure you cover all your interests. The next step is to go through your lists and eliminate ideas based solely on your gut feeling of each topic. Remember that the concept you choose will be the one you end up researching, writing content for, marketing, and managing from this point forward. Your remaining list should consist of topics that you are passionate about and want to build a business around.

Now here is where you have 2 options for narrowing down your profitable website ideas. My preference is option number two, but I have used both methods and I feel they give similar results in terms of the level of accuracy. Let's take a look at each option:

Option #1 - The first method to narrow your list of potential money making website ideas is provided by Site Build It! and is fully explained in day 2 of the SBI Action Guide. SBI developed a system that has spidered billions of web pages and generates keyword phrases related to your ideas. The SBI keyword tool provides demand, supply, and profitability for each of the phrases it generates. As you can see in the upper right-hand corner of this page, SBI is at the top of my list of web business tools. I recommend checking it out especially if you want a detailed method of narrowing down your money making website ideas and ultimately choosing one concept for your new website.

Option #2 - I like to use Google to give me three pieces of information: keywords and keyword phrases that are related to the ideas I type into the box, the average monthly Google searches for each of the keywords generated, and the estimated cost per click when buying advertising through Google Adwords. How to handle the list of keywords and keyword phrases along with the monthly Google searches are covered in the article "Keyword Marketing Research". For now I want to focus on the estimated cost per click because placing Google Ads on your site will likely be one of your main income sources. Google makes money by collecting advertising dollars from businesses who want to promote their products or services alongside search results and on websites related to their own market. So every time a visitor clicks on a Google Ad that is on your website, Google will pay you a percentage of what the advertiser is bidding for the spot.

Go to the Google Keyword Tool and type your first idea where it says "Enter one keyword or phrase per line". Click on "Get keyword ideas" and allow Google to generate keywords related to your idea. Then under "Choose columns to display" be sure to select "Show Estimated Avg CPC". Then where it says "Calculate estimates using a different maximum CPC bid" type 100 into the box and click on "Recalculate".

You want to look for two things. First you should make sure Google generated a lengthy list of keywords and phrases related to your idea. Second you want to analyze the estimated average CPC for the generated keywords. The higher the average CPC the better. Run a new query for each of your potential money making website ideas. Compare the average CPC for all of your ideas.

At this point you have a list of potential money making website ideas and associated average CPC estimations that closely mimic the profitability level with Google Ads as a source of website income. It's time to make a decision on your site concept. You have to ask yourself whether the topic area itself or the profitability of the topic is more important to you. If the idea that interests you the most also appears to be the idea with the most profit potential, then your decision is easy. But it's possible that the idea with the most profit potential is not the one that interests you the most. That's where you have to make the decision whether your passion for a given topic overrides the higher profit potential of other money making website ideas. The decision is yours and once you make it don't look back. If you cannot come to a final decision then utilize the Choose It! tool from SBI.
