Legit internet businesses are difficult to find when searching for a legitimate online business opportunity. Misinformation on the internet is a real and serious problem, especially when it comes to a highly competitive and desired arenas such as internet marketing, affiliate marketing, or making money on the internet.

I'll tell you the situation is the same now as it was back in 2004 when I first made that search.

Based on the search results it's impossible to know who is promoting a legitimate online business opportunity. Regarding legit internet businesses it's difficult to figure out where to begin and where to get honest information.
Most people start off on the wrong foot, get frustrated, and then quit their internet venture without ever really getting going. I know the feeling. Back in 2004 I spent $2000 on internet marketing e-books and tapes. I tried my best to pick out what I felt was going to be solid information on how to build a successful, honest, legit internet business. For the most part I picked wrong. I ended up with mostly outdated information from "internet marketing gurus" who were basically making their money by selling "internet marketing information". That was a big lesson learned and one of my goals with this site is to help prevent other people from wasting their time and money on internet marketing misinformation.

Some general tips on how to spot and avoid misinformation on the internet, specifically related to internet marketing, affiliate marketing, and making money on the internet:
1) Anything that says something like "Turn $100 into $10,000" or "Make $5000 per month part time" is full of baloney. The people running such ads are in it for the money only and not for the sake of providing people with honest, legit online business information.
2. Beware of any site that promotes internet marketing e-books and tools without providing you with proof that those tools and techniques are in fact what the promoter is actually using to a run a profitable, legitimate online business. If there is no sign that the promoter uses those techniques and tools to promote products outside of internet marketing then forget it, they're just in it to get you to buy the information so you can try to sell the same information to someone else. That's what I call internet marketers piling on top of each other. Everybody selling the same information without using it to promote real products and services.
3. Even though this article is based on how to find a legitimate online business opportunity, be careful of using the phrase "business opportunity". You want to build a real online business, not get involved with an opportunity. Chances are any internet "business opportunity" you come across will be multi-level, pyramid, or ponzi-related where in order to earn a commission you will need to promote to others the same product/package that you bought. Build a long-lasting business that you are in control of, not one that hinges on recruiting other people and the efforts of those same people.
4. Beware of sites that simply review internet marketing e-books, tools, or business opportunities. Also beware of sites that review internet marketers themselves. Those kind of sites are designed to look honest but their real motive is to get you to buy into one or two specific marketing e-books or internet business opportunities.

Did you know that some of the best information on building a legit internet business is free? You don't have to spend thousands or hundreds or even fifty dollars on internet marketing information. At some point you have to spend some money in order to start your online business, but it helps tremendously if you can build your internet business plan before spending a dime. I can save you time and money because I've already been down the wrong path and know what pitfalls to watch out for. I'll tell you straight up it takes hard work, dedication, and time to earn a full-time income on the internet. With that said it's not as hard as many people think to start making some money online. Web design is not that hard if you have the right tools at your disposal. It's all about having the right information, the right tools to fit your experience-level, and the willingness to take action by moving forward with a project instead of spinning your wheels.
